The use of vein visualization technology for assessment and selection is now being recommended for patients with difficult veins by professional bodies such as the Infusion Nurses Society (INS).
The IV-eye near infrared vein finder is suitable for hospital, pre-hospital (EMS), clinic, home, and remote environments where peripheral vascular access procedures are performed; from carrying out the initial vascular assessment, locating difficult to find veins, and assisting in choosing the best site on the chosen vein.
The difficulty healthcare professionals face when searching for a suitable vein for cannulation or venipuncture and the resulting numbers of failed needlesticks is a real and increasing problem.
The new version of the IV-eye provides medical professionals all the benefits of portability, simplicity, direct contact performance—and now, with greater image contrast. The grayscale imaging improves identification of deeper lying veins and the binary color display helps reduce the impact of hair interference.
