He specializes in the treatment of spinal disorders through the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Michigan Head & Spine Institute (MHSI) is the largest, most experienced group of physicians in Southeast Michigan dedicated to treating patients with disorders of the head and spine. It provides the entire continuum of care for head and spine conditions, with physiatrists and neuropsychologists who treat patients with non-surgical interventions, to neurosurgeons skilled in the most delicate brain and spine surgery.

Professionally, Dr. Perez-Cruet is the Chief of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery at Beaumont Hospitals and President and CEO at MI4 Spine Devices LLC. He is also the Vice-Chairman, Director, and Professor of the Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and Spine Program with the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.

In his earlier roles, he was the chief medical officer of Thompson MIS, an assistant professor and the director of minimally invasive spine surgery at Rush University, a spinal fellow and associate director at CINN Chicago, and an attending neurosurgeon and vice-chairperson at Wilford Hall Medical Center. He also served with the United States Air Force for 14 years.

Having watched his father excel as a researcher, Dr. Perez-Cruet developed a strong interest in the sciences, eventually leading him to become a well-known and respected neuropsychopharmacologist. Upon receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Grinnell College in 1983, he also obtained a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of South Florida in 1986 and a medical degree from the Tufts University School of Medicine in 1991. By 1997, he had completed an internship in surgical service and a residency in neurosurgery at Baylor College of Medicine.

Eminently qualified in his field, the doctor is board-certified in neurological surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, whose broad aim is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards, and advance the science of neurological surgery and thereby serve the cause of public health.

The Founder and President of the Minimally Invasive Neurological Society (MINS), Dr. Perez-Cruet is a Diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and a proud member of the Council of State Neurological Societies, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

Neurosurgeons are doctors who diagnose and treat problems with the nervous system, often by performing surgery on the brain or spine. They treat strokes, tumors, certain types of birth defects, infections, and head or spinal cord injuries.

For his exceptional contributions to neurology, Dr. Perez-Cruet was the recipient of a Patient's Choice Award in 2014 and 2018, a Top Spine Technology Award from BoneBac Press in 2011, a Best Spine Technology Award in 2011, and a Compassionate Doctor Recognition Award in 2014.
