National Technology Training Nonprofit, NPower, Announces José Reyes as its new Executive Director of Michigan

New York City, New York Mar 8, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - NPower, one of the country's largest free tech training and career development programs, has announced that José Reyes has joined the nonprofit organization as Executive Director for Michigan. 

In his new role with NPower, Reyes will be responsible for leading their strategic direction, overseeing administrative management, and directing collaborative partnerships within the Detroit region. 

Reyes is a Detroit native and graduate of the University of Michigan. He's spent more than two decades in workforce development, working across education, government, nonprofits, and the private sector. 

Before joining NPower, Reyes served as Deputy Director of Detroit's Workforce Development Department where he led the transition of the city's department into one of the largest and best-performing nonprofits in Michigan. He was the co-architect of Detroit Employment Solutions Corp (DESC), the programmatic and fiscal agent of the City of Detroit workforce board. Reyes has also been nationally recognized for his expertise on workforce development, particularly the White House recognized TechHire initiative that provided IT training to people in Detroit and others from around the region. Most recently, José served as the Director of Workforce & Community Development for Washtenaw Community College, where he was instrumental in developing Talent Pipeline Management (TPM) strategies among growing and emerging sectors of IT and Healthcare. 

Bea Tassot, VP of Field Operations at NPower, says his vast experience and deep involvement in the Detroit community will give the nonprofit a deeper reach into the state.

NPower Michigan launched in 2020 and serves Detroit and surrounding counties, helping young adults ages 18 - 26 and veterans gain the work and tech skills needed to launch new careers. Over the past decade, NPower has expanded its program reach and developed a robust network of Fortune 500 companies, mid-sized enterprises, government agencies, staffing firms, and a network of nonprofit partners that host its interns and hire its graduates full-time.
