Take Breaks Work Better Course Launched: John Briggs Teaches 3.3 Rule
Oct 14, 2026
The Real John Briggs highlights the 3.3 Rule, a work-and-break framework for business owners seeking sustainable focus, drawing on research about recovery breaks, attention, and productivity.
Draper, United States, October 14, 2026 /PressCable/ -- The Real John Briggs is highlighting the 3.3 Rule, a structured work-and-break method built for business owners and their teams. The method addresses a common problem among founders who push through long hours without stopping, often at the cost of focus and energy, and provides a repeatable framework for structuring work sessions and recovery periods throughout the day.

A university learning center resource notes that effective breaks can lower stress and help workers refocus once they return to a task, while breaks spent scrolling social media, checking email, or browsing the internet tend to leave people feeling less restored rather than more. For business owners already stretched thin, this distinction between a restorative pause and a distracting one carries real weight.
Studies report further support for stepping away from work at intervals. The American Psychological Association found that students who took a five-minute break partway through a sustained-attention task performed better than those who worked without pausing, and a study published in the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis found that 75% of participants completed more checks during sessions with programmed breaks than during sessions without required breaks.
These findings echo a work-rest format many professionals already recognize: the Pomodoro technique, which alternates 25 minutes of work with a five-minute break and adds a longer break after four sessions. The 3.3 Rule builds on this same underlying principle of timed cycles between focused effort and deliberate rest, adapting it for business owners managing teams and variable workloads rather than single, isolated tasks.
For business owners trying to build sustainable focus without constant hustle, the 3.3 Rule provides a concrete structure for pairing deep work with genuine recovery. The framework reflects the broader mission behind The Real John Briggs: helping founders build businesses that run on clarity and systems rather than burnout, with reduced fatigue and steadier attention throughout the day among the outcomes it aims to support.
